This week in class, we will consider the principle of Sthiram Sukham Asanam.
The principle of Sthiram Sukham Asanam comes from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras (2.46) and teaches that a posture should be both steady (sthira) and comfortable (sukha).
While it originally refers to seated meditation, its wisdom extends far beyond yoga and into daily life.
Whether we’re sitting at a desk, driving, or standing in line, finding stability and ease in our posture helps prevent strain and tension.
Beyond the physical, this concept applies to our mindset as well. In moments of stress or difficult conversations, staying grounded while maintaining a sense of ease allows us to navigate challenges with clarity.
Even in simple daily actions like cooking, walking, or working, we can embody this balance by moving with intention, breathing mindfully, and staying present.

By embracing Sthiram Sukham Asanam, we cultivate not just a strong yoga practice, but a way of living that is both resilient and peaceful.
